impACT NYC launched its first event on Wednesday, June 19 at the Open Society Foundations in New York City, partnering with Young Professionals in Foreign Policy – New York and the Living Room Exchange. This free event was an evening of Power Talks by high-profile and engaging speakers, a panel focusing on immigrant entrepreneurs in New York, and a workshop for participants to develop their entrepreneurial skills. Those who attended came away with better knowledge, resources, and networks to create change and work for social justice. Attendees also had the opportunity to view Open Society’s Moving Walls exhibit, Another Way Home, which seeks to reclaim and redefine narratives of refugee and immigrant experiences by focusing on themes of identity, community, and resilience. This event marked impACT’s first in the Western Hemisphere, in the United States and in New York City.
