Zarlasht Sarmast is an independent TV/Film producer/director, journalist and women’s rights activist born and raised in Kabul, Afghanistan. She began her career at the age of eleven (2006) while presenting and producing radio segments for “Powerful Youth,” broadcasted by Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA). She was then invited to produce/present a TV program entitled “Future Makers,” funded by JICA and broadcast on RTA. The program featured young peace ambassadors and activists working on nation peace-building initiatives throughout the country.
Zarlasht’s extracurricular activities include the following: Founding Member of the Afghanistan Youth Civil Society Association, Women in Film and Video in Afghanistan, a member of the 1st Women’s Olympic Cycling team, and member of the Afghanistan National Music Institute (ANIM).
